THERE IS ALWAYS A MESSAGE OUT OF YOUR MESS! Yes you heard me loud and clear! Whatever you are passing through is not enough to make you want to end your life or become miserable for the rest of your life. If you think you are passing through hell, why don't you visit hospitals, psychiatric centers and deplorable areas within your neighbourhood to see how others are living.
The truth is you have to make the best of whatever situation you find yourself. Nothing is worth killing yourself over. As the cliche saying goes "If life throws you lemons, then you make a lemonade out of it." I'm probably talking too much already so let me share a few stories with you to drive my point home.
Meet Jessica Cox, the world's first licensed ARMLESS pilot, as well as the first ARMLESS black-belt in the American Taekwondo Association (she now has two black belts in Taekwondo). Jessica, now 31, envisioned herself as 'superwoman" in her younger years. She was envious of her school mates who used their hands to create artistic things, swing about on monkey bars while she was limited to the swings. Now she has actualized her dream of being a super woman by flying an airplane
She attested to being frustrated as a child, having to deal with constant stares by people and the confusion of not having hands like everybody else. Above all these obstacles, she found a message out of her mess. She converted the constant stares into positive vibes and communicated a message of hope and optimism. In her words, "I used to get very irritated when people stared, especially when I’m walking down the street or eating with my feet. But I’ve learnt to turn that into something positive and use that opportunity to channel positive vibes and be an example of optimism."
Jessica Cox rose above her challenges and today is a Keynote speaker, Motivational speaker, author, and pilot. She uses her disability to prove that been physically challenged does not mean you are useless. Although she admitted to it not being an easy task, yet she relied on her faith to see her through and has learnt to use her legs to fly a plane, do her make-up, put her contact lenses, eat and other amazing stuffs. She is now married to Patrick Chamberlain.
Let me also introduce you to popular Christian Evangelist, Nick Vujicic. Born with no arms and no legs, life couldn't have gotten any worse for Nick. He battles depression during his childhood and also attempted suicide by drowning in a bathtub at the age of 10. At 15, he suffered an injury to his foot which he uses for many things like typing, swimming and writing and then he learnt to be grateful for his abilities rather than focus on his disabilities. Regardless of his challenges, Nick decided to seal his faith in God and view his condition as a platform for restoring faith and hope.
Currently, Nick has spoken 2,000 times in over 44 countries. He is married to his wife Kanae and they are blessed with a beautiful baby boy. Nick found his purpose in his disability and is using it to bless lives. His message to you all is "Dream big my friend and never give up. We all make mistakes, but none of us are mistakes. Take one day at a time. Embrace the positive attitudes, perspectives, principles and truths I share, and you too will overcome."
So don't get up, tap into your inner strength and be all that you were created to be. Don't forget: we all make mistakes but none of us are mistakes.
